Who?

My name is John Cameron Thomas. It’s a double name. I’m a mathematician and self-taught software developer. I was born in Mobile, Alabama but I currently reside in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. My music tastes include Dire Straits, Steve Miller Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Matchbox Twenty, and Dave Matthews Band to name a few. I have loved mathematics for as long as I can remember and it’s probably my favorite thing. Computers naturally became an interest of mine because of their strong relationship with math. One of my favorite quotes is:

The only phrase I’ve ever disliked is, ‘Why, we’ve always done it that way.’ I always tell young people, ‘Go ahead and do it. You can always apologize later.’
— Grace Hopper

I love this quote because it essentially means, “Ask for forgiveness, not for permission.” I think this kind of mindset, when applied correctly, is a recipe for innovation.

Why?

This website exists to provide access to content, created by me, focusing on software, engineering, and mathematics. It will also feature content about my projects and work. This will mainly come in the form of blog posts, although I may expand in the future.
